Megawide Construction Corporation (Megawide or the Company) emerged as the Grand Winner of the United Neon’s Most Innovative Company of the Year during the 12th Asia CEO Awards virtual ceremony held last October 12, 2021. Megawide was initially shortlisted in the Circle of Excellence among 30 entries and bested six other finalists belonging to the elite group.

Megawide was also part the Circle of Excellence in the category Multisys Executive Leadership Team of the Year.

Asia CEO Awards honors individuals and organizations which made positive contributions to the development of the country’s economic capabilities and international reputation across the globe.

“It is indeed with great honor that our organization has been chosen as the winner of this prestigious award. We are thankful to be recognized for our social innovation initiatives, which aim to provide First-World Services to Filipinos. In the future, we hope to continue shaping and influencing the mindsets of our countrymen in using improved infrastructure to drive faster economic advancement and development,” said Megawide Chairman Edgar Saavedra.

Engineering and innovation have been at the heart of Megawide’s transformation and vision since its inception. For more than two decades, the Company has been providing world-class structures and services to the Filipino people through its engineering and construction excellence and infrastructure innovation. These include projects under the government’s Private Public Partnership (PPP) program, which underwent a strict, transparent, and fair selection and evaluation process, and operate in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Among these are the construction of 10,000 public classrooms under Department of Education’s PPP for School Infrastructure Project, the development of the now internationally-acclaimed Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the delivery of the first-of-its-kind Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, and the construction of the Clark International Airport’s new passenger terminal building, which was completed ahead of schedule, amid the pandemic.

“We intend to sustain this momentum to help fast track the Philippines’ economic recovery, through more infrastructure projects and transit-oriented developments that support people mobility and commercial activity. We believe that these segments will be essential in rebuilding the economy and engineering a First World Philippines. We hope to be an inspiration in strengthening the collaboration between the public and private sectors,” Saavedra added.

Nominations for the Asia CEO Awards 2021 were open to all Philippine-based organizations and individuals and accepted from April 30, 2021 to August 16, 2021 free of charge. This year’s edition drew a total of 514 entrants across all categories, the highest since the event debuted in 2009. The evaluation process also underwent strict scrutiny from the award-giving body’s official knowledge partner, PwC Philippines, and the esteemed Members of the Board of Judges, who are excluded from nominating their own candidates.
