The company strengthened its adherence to global standards as it gears up for more big-ticket project tenders.
With a continued commitment to ensuring adherence to global quality management standards, Filipino engineering and infrastructure innovator Megawide Construction Corporation (“Megawide” or the “Company”) received ISO 9001:2015 Certifications for its Precast and Construction Solutions business. Apart from the Precast unit, the certification also covers Ready-Mix Concrete, Construction Equipment and Logistics Services, and Formworks businesses.
The ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System (QMS) is granted to companies that demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that enhance customer satisfaction and comply with all regulatory and statutory requirements, showing commitment to continually improve products, services, procedures, and processes.
“Our commitment to global standards is further solidified with this ISO Certification. With this under our belt, we will be more capable of supporting the Company’s ongoing pivot to infrastructure and, at the same time, enable us to serve other industry players in the same space,” said Markus Hennig, Megawide Executive Vice President for Business Units.
QMS for large-ticket projects
He further explained that QMS is often a requirement for top-level project tenders, and is indicative of the company’s commitment to operational excellence and innovation. “We understand that critical and large infrastructure developments require long-term expertise and entail compliance with strict engineering and safety standards. A certified QMS helps us achieve this and ensure that design, products, and methodology meet project requirements, regulatory benchmarks, and client specifications, not to mention strengthen value-add propositions and increase the likelihood for potential partnerships with foreign and local players,” he added.
For Hennig, receiving the ISO 9001:2015 is part of the company’s journey towards sustainable growth and operational excellence. The Company is constantly enhancing its operational capabilities and
sharpening its competitive edge to expand its role in the country’s infrastructure build-up.
Ongoing infrastructure pivot
Megawide, together with its Japanese partners Tokyu Construction and Tobishima Corporation, recently signed Contract Package 104 of the Metro Manila Subway Project. It is also fast expanding its transport-centric development (TCD) portfolio, anchored on a hub-and-spoke model, with the country’s first landport, PITX, currently at the core. Megawide is also modernizing Cebu’s 100-year old Carbon District, including its public market, through a joint venture with the Cebu City Government. As part of the Company’s drive for outstanding workmanship and industry leadership, Megawide has also received other certifications such as ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System), OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), and the previous versions of ISO 9001, ISO 9001:2008 for its comprehensive approach to providing exceptional service and quality management.
