When Megawide Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edgar Saavedra was distinguished anew last April 16, 2023 by the De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) his acceptance of the award was a challenge of the happiest kind.
DLSAA conferred Edgar with the DLSAA Lasallian Achievement Award in Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Development. The awarding was based on his “outstanding leadership of the nation’s top and trailblazing companies that set landmark industry standards in the fields of construction, infrastructure, and engineering.”
Saavedra studied Civil Engineering at the university, earning his degree in 1995.
In his short acceptance speech, Saavedra thanked the DLSAA, and underscored the Lasallian values that helped propel his career. Saavedra stressed that a “true Lasallian” embraces a culture of humility and being sociable, which he said proved more important to his success than being smartest.
Leading by example
The award reinforces a brand of leadership known across the Megawide group–one that inspires excellence from colleagues and employees.
