Megawide recorded another safe man-hours milestone as it reached one million for its Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) project last February. The Aglipay STP is a partnership project of Megawide and Manila Water. Megawide Construction Project Manager Eleazar Sanchez received an appreciation plaque for this achievement, thanking partners from Suez Philippines, as well as the project’s 300 laborers, for helping reach this milestone.
“We are proud to have passed this milestone with all of you, laborers and collaborates alike,” Sanchez said. “To our partners, we promise the same dedication to safety as we proceed in our work.”
Manila Water Senior Project Manager Michaelangelo Cubelo said the feat is evidence of Manila Water’s commitment to safety in construction projects.
The Aglipay STP, which broke ground in February 2021, is the 42nd sewage treatment facility of Manila Water in Metro Manila’s East Zone. It is expected to have a treatment capacity of 60 million liters per day of wastewater to be collected from 2,115 hectares of catchment area, which covers Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Quezon City.
The Aglipay STP is also the first project of Megawide with Manila Water. The 4.18-billion plant is part of the Mandaluyong West Sewerage System project, which is expected to serve 720,000 people by 2037.
