Megawide Construction Corporation (“Megawide” or the “Company”) envisions a First-World Philippines, which involves empowered youth and communities. Thus, to attain its long-term goals, the Company has positioned sustainability at the core of its business operations.
In 2012, the Company established the Megawide Corporate Foundation, Inc., its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm that supports the best practices in environmental management, social responsibility, and good governance (ESG).
Megawide Foundation is Megawide’s designated business unit tasked to monitor the implementation of the group’s CSR programs. It is duly accredited by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and has Bureau of Internal Revenue tax donee status.
Aligned with the parent firm’s commitment for excellence, the Foundation has implemented several projects supporting its vision of engineering hope and empowering the Megawide host communities.
For instance, its flagship project — Megawide Engineering Excellence Scholarship (MEES) Program — has been helpful to hundreds of diligent students.
“Megawide remains agile and relentless in building a First-World Philippines. We stay true to our values and our pursuit of inclusive development by empowering our host communities. We believe that equipping them, especially the diligent students, will help usher in lasting and sustainable impact,” Megawide Foundation president and chairman Louie Ferrer said.
Since the program’s launch in 2015, the Megawide Foundation so far spent P21.3 million to support its initiatives. This year alone, it earmarked P3.9 million, which will primarily support its overall operations
The program already gave out 97 grants to different students taking engineering and architecture courses from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Technology University of the Philippines, and Cebu Technological University.
The Megawide Foundation provides scholars with monthly stipend, thesis support and internet and book allowances. Scholars can also tap the allotted emergency and benevolence assistance, board review support and allowance as well as dorm and graduation support.
As of October 2022, 52 scholars graduated colleges, 15 of which finished school with distinctions and 25 passed the board exams. To date, five MEES alumni are working for Megawide.
Megawide and the Foundation have been generously supporting the endeavors of our diligent scholars — our future partners in realizing a First-World Philippines.
