The COVID-19 pandemic pushed the stop button on public transportation in 2020. John Anthony Galman, Ground Handling Officer at the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) back then, thought of losing his job, too. Fast forward to 2024: Anthony is now one of the specialists managing PITX’s ground operations.​​

“Nung pandemic, nababalitaan ko po maraming mga companies na nagtatanggal ng tao. Isa ako doon sa mga kinabahan na baka tanggalin na rin po ako, kasi bago pa lang ako [sa PITX]. Doon ko naramdaman na naging companion ko si PITX.”​

Anthony kept his job at the country’s first landport throughout the operational shutdown. According to him, support from the company even reached his family during those difficult times.​

Asked about his experience as Ground Handling Specialist, Anthony shared,”Nagkakaroon po ako ng growth kasi araw-araw, iba-iba ‘yung nangyayari. Araw-araw, iba-iba yung sineserve. Natututunan ko rin po dito kung pa’no makipag-communicate sa mga tao, especially magmula sa mga matataas hanggang sa mga simple nating pasahero.”​

Anthony also shared one simple yet important learning on the job: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. ​

“Lahat naman po ng magagaling, nagsimula sa wala. Kailangan lang natin magtanong nang magtanong at maging focused sa ginagawa natin.”​

While many find fulfillment behind office walls, Claude thrives where the community’s heartbeat is strongest.

After having navigated different industries, she felt a deep calling to go back to community work, with a purpose she was determined to achieve.

“I’ve always wanted to make a positive impact on society. Understanding and addressing the needs of your community are efforts on their own, but if we work together, we can amplify these efforts and see the larger, nationwide impact,” she shared.

Just seven months ago, Claude hit the ground running, taking charge of the Foundation’s scholarship rebranding initiative, which unlocked more opportunities for deserving students, with new programs and university partners on the list.

“Education is part of the Foundation’s social pillar. We’re happy that we’re able to enhance our scholarship program. I consider this as one of my most meaningful accomplishments,” she added.

In an industry where integrity is critical, Claude shared and ended with a practical advice: “You are a reflection of your company, so make sure you represent it very well!”

While others fear change, Kirby takes it quite differently. Rather than mulling over the challenges it comes with, his quest for learning is way brighter than uncertainties hidden beyond dark clouds.

“Organizational changes are normal. You have to focus on the goal and take opportunities to learn. Thankfully, our team works collaboratively. This makes the goal easier to achieve,” he said.

Change, for Kirby, has ultimately brought him exposure to leadership, decision-makers, teaching him the value of accountability now ingrained in his approach.

“Being accountable adds value to one’s personal and professional growth,” he pointed.

Kirby ended by sharing that, since he joined Megawide in 2023, he has remained attentive to details–which he considers a strength–and has developed the skill in building rapport with key stakeholders.

The industry of marketing can be grueling sometimes. For Erika, having an impressive skill set can get you through the most difficult roads. But when you combine skills with passion, and find yourself in the same crossroads, it’s going to be easier.

“I joined PH1 World Developers during the Covid-19 era. I was a little apprehensive about my deliverables and all, but I went back to the reason why I’m here–to serve our stakeholders aligned with our values of malasakit and dedication,” she shared.

Erika also pointed how leadership plays a huge role in encouraging people and colleagues: “When you have a great support system, it fuels you, more so when you receive good mentorship. It empowers you. It redefines you. It makes you eager to contribute to the overall mission of the company!”

All positive elements multiply for Mariecor Avila, as she moves up the ladder in Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange’s (PITX). In 2019, she humbly started as Lead Cashier, and in barely three years, earned herself a promotion as Lead Treasury Specialist.

With her foundation on numbers and figures, then after hurdling numerous challenges, she now finds fulfillment in the undivided trust and confidence duly accorded to her by her mentors.

When Dandie learned he’d be transferred from Metro Manila to Cebu, it felt like a big change.. Yet, this finance professional didn’t hesitate; he embraced the change with unwavering positivity.

Looking back on his time at Megawide, Dandie remembered stepping into the role of operations comptrollership in 2021. It wasn’t easy, but with his leaders’ support, he found it rewarding.

“Malaking bagay ‘yong mentorship at tiwala sa’kin ng mga naging leaders ko. From them, natutunan kong maging adaptive at agile sa mga tasks at environment na napupuntahan ko,” he shared.

Now, as Finance Manager at Megawide’s Cebu2World, Dandie’s career is on the up and up. He then ended the conversation with simple and quick reminder.

“There will always be opportunities from challenges and change. You just have to make an effort to find it, and embrace it.”

Three young engineers mean business!

Coming from the same University with the same college degree are just two things, but for Gyan, Matt and Lozi, sharing a single-minded vision is what really makes them click a trio.

From humble consultants to becoming full-time Megawide employees, the gentlemen have cemented themselves as Business Developments experts, addressing policies, leading negotiations and providing solutions for the business. The three of them even nailed the Civil Engineering Licensure Exam last November!

For Gyan, Matt and Lozi, having the same passion for the job has become instrumental ultimately to the purpose of why they joined Megawide—to take part of the company’s vision to make the country First-World. With the good mentorship of their leaders, the gentlemen believe how promising the journey will be, years from now.
