Engineering A First-World Philippines
With the solid 2017 performance and an optimistic outlook in infrastructure, Megawide Chairman and CEO Edgar Saavedra declared that the company is embracing its leap from construction to infrastructure development.
This was announced to employees during the Mornings with the Bossings 2 held last 26 June 2018 at the Head Office.
“Our results in 2017 showed a marked difference from the past years. We are diversified. We’re finally opening the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2; moving forward, this will provide us with even greater contributions from the airport business. Later this year, we will also commission the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, the first intermodal transport hub in Metro Manila.”
Mr. Saavedra believes that the company’s diversification strategy launched in 2011 has already borne fruit. “The company is entering into a new phase,” he said. “More than just building structures, we want to take part in building the nation. This is the new phase of Megawide. This is Megawide 2.0.”
He also revealed that the new phase has prompted the company to upgrade its Vision, Mission, and Values, “which will be shared to the public very soon.”
The company’s new tagline has also been revealed. According to Mr. Saavedra, “For the past twenty years, we have been guided by our pursuit of Engineering Excellence. Moving forward we will all move with one purpose: Engineering a First-World Philippines. Megawide will continue to explore opportunities to expand and diversify into infrastructure through engineering capabilities. We will continue to extend our reach to serve the entire nation.”
